Retro Sunday Squared With Scholarly Nail - Revlon's: KiwiZing & Winey

We're baaaaaaaaaaack!

For this addition of mine and Jacqui's Retro Sunday Squared we decided to have a free-for-all and pick any two Revlon's to share! First up I have the unspeakably beautiful duochrome, KiwiZing. I almost have no words. I have a insatiable love for duochromes and this polish is one of my new favorites. EVER. Esther sent this to my greedy little polish hands. Thanks again, doll! I'll just let the pics do the talkin'. Two coats. Let the drooling begin. :P

Yep, that's right.
Soak it on in.
Next up I have Winey from their old Top Speed line. Formula was buttery smooth on this strawberry pink polish with hidden purple shimmer. It's so cheerful! I'm thinking great pedi color! Two coats.

Look closely - hidden shimmer!

Revlon StreetWear - Jewels

Hello there!

*Sigh* These pics are the last I have with nails at what I think is a great length on me. Right after I shot these, I had a nasty break stacking boxes to move and now I have nubbies. Ah well, they grow quick. *Woes of a nail blogger - LOL!*

Moving right along to the polish, I have a FANTASTIC Revlon StreetWear glitter to share, Jewels. Sometimes I get lucky and find cheap gems on eBay, and this is an example of that! Five bucks WITH shipping. What a deal I tell ya! Jewels is a clear-based polish LOOOOOADED with pearly, iridescent glitter - micro and hex. In that bottle it looks whimsical, on the nail?! WHAM! It takes on colors of orange and green to make the ultimate fall glitter! This is two coats over OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest. LOVE this combo. I'm so ready for fall!

Awesome.
Have a great Saturday!

Quick NOTD! Chi Chi - Shopaholic

TGIF!

I'm going to make this post short and sweet. Working eight days in a row while trying to pack to move is stressing me out. Yesterday was my only day off and I feel like I didn't get enough done. I had originally had another Chi Chi to share, but I shuddered at my swatches and deciding to scrap them. I'll have to re-swatch for another day - it really is a beauty! Today I have Shopaholic to share, sent to me by my girl Lauren. THANKS, GIRL! <3 I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chi Chi's. Shopaholic is a pink-based purple shimmer polish. Two coats. PRETTY!

Essie goodness!

What's up, ladies?! (Gentlemen?.....hmm....LOL!)

Today I have just lovely Essie spam for ya. I tend to overlook Essie's newer collections. They all tend to be boring cremes or nothing to catch my eye. Except for the oldies of course. Ruby Slippers and Viva La Vespa have a special place in my heart and my stash. I really love these three Essie's though. Sometimes they get it RIGHT!

First up I have Pink-A-Boo. I'm going to go ahead and blame this one on Scrangie. I'm not much of a pink person, and when I do chose pinks, they're never delicate. This was a shock to me that I gravitated towards this one! Pink-A-Boo is from Essie's Resort Collection that came out this past Spring. It has a milky pink base with duochrome-y shimmer swimming throughout. (FYI - it was impossible to capture the shimmer correctly, this polish must be seen in person!) The formula was pleasant. Three thin coats.

There ya go, you can see the shimmer.
Next up I have one of my favorite Essie's of all time, Dive Bar. Dive Bar starts off as a black-based polish with teal shimmer. I love how it looks almost multi-dimensional on the nail. In the bottle is shows a duochrome effect around the edges of the bottle. It can be stubborn when showing up  on the nail. Man I love this polish. Vampy blue goodness. Two coats.

Last but not least I have Luxedo from Essie's Winter 2010 Collection. Rie hooked me up with this vampy gem over the winter.  OMG I don't know where to start. I DIE (DIE!) for deep rich cremes. I love them so much. Even in the Summer. I'm weird, I know. This is one of my FAVES. A deep, dark rich plum - perfection. (Although it pulls more brown in pics. Odd. Trust me, it's purple.) The formula was amazing as well. Almost a one-coater.

TOMORROW'S THE WEEKEND!

Revlon - Disco

Happy hump day!

Today I have another AMAZING vintage Revlon to share, this is time it's Disco! The lovely Kaz CP'd three of these bad boys to me, you can see Psychedelic HERE. These gems are Revlon Street Wear bar glitters just in the old Revlon bottles - same name, number, etc. AKA I go completely ga-ga for them! Disco is a clear-based polish (ever so slightly a tinge of blue, that my be from age or intentional? Not sure.) with tiny light blue glitter and holo bar glitter. Bar glitter being the key to my heart and Revlon being one of my favorite polish brands, I'm on cloud 9. This is two coats over Essie Dive Bar.

Here's to hoping this week flies by!

Random Swatches Day!

Hello there!

I had some unrelated swatches hanging out in my computer, so I thought I'd throw them all together and call it Random Swatches Day!

First up I have a Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure, Yellow Kitty. This color has been discontinued, and I bought it one clearance for the name LOL! I normally don't gravitate toward pastels at all, but I actually really enjoy it. This is three coats to fill in bald spots.

Next up I have a lovely vintage Lancome Vernis Absolu polish, Fleur Kaki. (yep, that's not a typo, that's how it's spelled.) I love vintage Lancomes, and this golden olive green is no exception. The formula is a litter watery, this is three coats. LOVE.

Last but not least, I have a newly acquired Revlon polish, a vintage LE Berry Rhumba. This is a one-coater, people! ONE. COAT. This raspberry creme polish flowed onto my nails perfectly. Buttery smooth.

Have a great Tuesday!

OPI - Every Month Is Oktoberfest

Happy Monday!......

This weekend went by entirely too fast! Guess that's the sign of a great weekend I suppose!

Since I'm an avid vintage polish collector, I rarely ever grab polishes from new collection unless I really fall hard for something. When I saw OPI's new Fall 2012 Germany collection, I KNEW I needed all of the reds! (I still need to pick up German-icure & Danke-Shiney Red.) Every Month Is Oktoberfest is the one I knew I wanted the most! The base is a deep reddened purple/plum base with red/purple shimmer. With one coat it looks almost blue, but with two coats as shone in my swatches it looks black-based. I LOVE this polish so much! It's vampy, complex, and a perfect color for fall!

Have a great start to your week!

Retro Sunday Squared with The Scholarly Nail - Vintage Sally Hansen glitters!

We're baaaaaaack!

We've taken a bit of a break, but we are back and read to rock and roll! Jacqui and I have missed our Retro Sunday Squared posts so much! For today we'd thought we'd start things off with a bang with Sally Hansen glitters. First up I have Solar Power, one of my newer glitter additions from eBay. Solar Power is a FANTASTIC summer yellow glitter! It's very sheer so I layered two coats over Sally's Complete Manicure Yellow Kitty. It is jam-packed with holo glitter, making this a fun, sunny look! LOVE.

LOVE.
Next up I have a fun bar glitter (YAY!) to share, Pink Champagne! This is another newer polish I bought from the same seller on eBay. I have a bar glitter obsession so I fell in love right away! I love the mixture in this one, tiny pink glitter mixed with three different colors of bar glitter - pink, gold, & lavender. I think next time I might pair this with a lighter shade of purple or pink. This is two coats over Essie Luxedo.

Party in a bottle!
Don't forget to check out Jacqui's post today!
